I thew adsense on some events articles (bridal show, concerts, etc).  Haven’t had a bite yet, but not much traffic yet either.  I was worried about targeting, but I just checked it and am getting Evansville specific ads now. :)

Desty,

Glad you are getting targeted ads now.  Google is pretty quick about finding the targeted ads for your topic.

One thing to remember is watch your CTR.  If you are getting low, or no clicks, you don’t want to get your whole network smart priced to .05 cent clicks.

If you notice that you are, you might try some affiliate ads, Yahoo Publisher Network (similar to Adsense) or other methods to monetize your site.

Heh, I’m getting single digit impressions with 0 clicks.  Only have the ads on like 3-4 articles.  I’ve applied to Yahoo, but have heard nothing back from them yet.

Desty,

Sounds ok, but if you are using Adsense on other sites, just keep an eye out on your total ad network that your CTR doesn’t drop below 1% or .5% at the maximum.

If that begins to happen, you will get smart priced.

As for Yahoo, I am using them and have had pretty good luck so far.  No smart pricing and you can target particular pages or an entire site with a category of ads to show.

It did take a couple of weeks for me to hear back from them by the way.  If you have any questions about them, let me know.

I found something strange since this weekend.  I switched from 468×60’s on top and bottom of my video posts.  I get fewer clicks, but the clicks I do get are worth more for some reason.  I’m using the 300×228 now on top and bottom.

This is what it is all about with Adsense.

The last couple of days, I have gone from .40 minimum clicks down to .05 or less.  I’m not sure what the hell is going on, but right in the middle of it, I get a 2.00 click!

Just keep playing around with your ad units and see what works.  I just dumped my sidebar off of a niche site because it was giving me .03 clicks for the last week, consistently.

Also, there is a new (?) ad unit floating around.  I have a screen capture of it and will be posting on the site about it.  Pretty neat stuff!

Elliott,

Have you posted on the new ad unit yet?

Really interested!

yep, sorry I had the screenshot on another computer and hadn’t gotten to it as I had been working on a different computer the last few days.

I am currently looking into putting on a classified section to my local site, plus I am looking to build a business directory.

Both of these could take a lot of time but the money in the end could be huge.
